The IPL has pruned its auction list for the next season from a preliminary 416 to 350, and also increased the base prices of Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman. All 80 players named in the top three price bands of the preliminary list have retained their place in the final list for the auction, which is scheduled to be held in Bangalore on January 8 and 9.
In the preliminary list, 21 players including former West Indies batsman Brian Lara had been in the highest bracket of US$400,000, a bunch that Ganguly has now joined after his reserve price was raised from $200,000. Laxman, who has had a vintage year in Tests in 2010, also had his base price bumped up from $200,000 to $300,000.
Ganguly and Laxman are not the first players to modify their reserve prices. Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble had earlier changed their base price from $200,000 to $400,000. An IPL official confirmed that the players had the right to choose their reserve price. "This has been the practice in every IPL," said the league's chief operating officer Sundar Raman, "we merely set the bands of reserve prices."
But one of the franchise officials put a different spin to Ganguly increasing his base price. "Ganguly might have understood that there are not many franchises willing to even consider him. But to my knowledge one of the franchises has already assured him that they will buy him out. So, if there is only one franchise willing to buy but assuring him why not hike his price then. Probably that made Ganguly hike his price."

Shakib Al Hasan, the Bangladesh allrounder, has been retained as captain of the national team for 2011. Opening batsman Tamim Iqbal has been named his deputy, and both will face their first major assignment in the new year in the World Cup.
The Bangladesh captaincy has shuffled between Mashrafe Mortaza and Shakib since the tour of West Indies in 2009 but Mortaza's knee injury has affected his prospects for the next year. Tamim, who returned to the line-up after a hand injury in Bangladesh's last ODI series against Zimbabwe, takes over from wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim as vice-captain.

2011 World Cup team for Bangladesh should be like this (in batting order) 1. Tamim 2. Imrul 3. Shahriar/junaed 4. Mushfiq 5. Shakib 6.alok/ashraful 7. mahmudullah 8. Shafiul 9. Rubel 10. Razzak 11. Mashrafee/ s.shuvo/ shahadat. total-15 If mashrafee is fit then he should play and bat at no.8 or whenever requires.. against India 3 pacers may work better. at no.4 Mushfiq can be real handy..he can work the ball here and there....this will be effective to take singles in middle over. alok or ashraful is experienced and can hit big and so one of them should be at no.6. they can bowl as part timer as well. Raqibul can not be a option this time...plz do forget him. it's obvious for world cup to pick the right team.Bengal tigers...

He is golden boy for indiaen team.
The gleaming new bats needed some breaking up so he, after doing a few knock-downs himself, asked the yoga trainer Manoj Kumar to give them some hits.

The game of Kabbadi is mostly popular in the countries of the Indian sub-continent and it has gained some amount of favour in many other countries as well. Basically a team game of opposition involving attack and defence, the main advantage of Kabaddi is that it requires absolutely no set-up or elaborate paraphernalia apart from two teams and a play area. It is both a game of skill and of power and the most common sport in rural India and Bangladesh. Incidentally, Kabaddi happens to be the national sport of Bangladesh.

History of Bangladesh Cricket

1999
Bangladesh beat Pakistan by 62 runs during the 1999 Cricket World Cup in the group match at Northampton. Bangladesh managed 223/9 from 50 overs. Pakistan could only manage 161 due to a few run-outs by wicketkeeper Khaled Masud and some tight bowling by Khaled Mahmud  who took 3/31 from 10 overs-was later judged man of the match. They did not qualify for the Super Six round after suffering defeats in most of their other matches. But that win over Pakistan, who were in the super six in that World Cup, helped Bangladesh to gain Test playing status one year later. There were allegations that the match was rigged.
2000
In 2000, Bangladesh made their debut Test appearance, hosting India in Dhaka. They lost by nine wickets.
2001
Bangladesh played eight Tests in 2001. They toured Zimbabwe in April and lost both Tests. They lost two one-off Tests to Pakistan and Sri Lanka, both by an innings, before returning home for a two-Test series against Zimbabwe. In the first Test in Dhaka, they escaped with a draw after no play was possible on the final two days due to rain. They had been 213 runs behind in their second innings, with seven wickets in hand. After seven Tests, it was their first time the team had avoided defeat. Zimbabwe then won the second Test by an innings. Bangladesh then made their first Test tour of New Zealand, losing both Tests by an innings.
2002
Bangladesh played four series of two Tests each in 2002 against Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and the West Indies. They lost all eight matches, six of these by an innings.
2003
In September, Bangladesh came very close to their first Test victory, when they lost to Pakistan by only one wicket. Also in the match, Alok Kapali had taken a hat-trick against the Pakistani batsmen.
